The Race… - 12-29-19 2 more days and we’re in 2020! Isn’t that crazy! The more I read, study and grow in Christ the more I realize there’s only 2 things that really matter in this world and in our life. * KNOWING JESUS CHRIST. Having an intimate, personal relationship with Him (the relationship HE wants, God’s Word) which restores me to God the Father. Matthew 16:26 – Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? Matthew 6:33 – Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. John 17:3 – And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth. John 17:22-23 - The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. * MAKING HIM KNOWN! Being a Witness in the world, sharing the Gospel, making Disciples who go make other Disciples. You can’t Make Him Known, unless you KNOW HIM! 1 Peter 2:9 – 9 But you are a chosen people, royal priests, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession. You were chosen to tell about the wonderful acts of God, who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (His Church = Called out ones!) 2 Corinthians 5:19-21 - 19 For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. 20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” 21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ. Matthew 28:18-20 - And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Acts 1:8 - But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, (Relationship with Jesus) and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” So, as we look back on 2019, and look forward to 2020… think about those 2 things. How did I grow, develop, mature in my relationship with Jesus last year? How will I grow, develop, mature in a closer relationship with Jesus in this coming year? How did I make Him known last year? How will I make Him Known in this coming year? Paul said in Phil 3:8-14 - 8 Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. EVERYTHING is worthless compared to my relationship with Christ… to my being “ONE” with Him, and what I have in Him… For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage (as dung), so that I could gain Christ 9 and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; (some form of religion, or religious system) rather,
