Did God Really Say? When did distortion of God’s word begin?……..satan in the garden Adam and THE WOMAN (Eve hadn’t been named yet) made a bad decision due to distorted words Here are three examples of God’s word that are easily distorted: * No women in heaven? Revelation 8:1 (KJV)8:1 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour. * I don’t need to exercise! 1 Timothy 4:8 (KJV) For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. * The bible says I need to drink to stay healthy! 1 Timothy 5:23(KJV) Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities. Why? Satan distorts God’s word in order to let things creep in and take God’s place in our heart. Examples: * God won’t put more on you than you can bare ….here the focus is on YOU and not Him! 2 Corinthians 1:8-10 (NLT) 8 We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters,[a] about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. 9 In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. 10 And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in him, and he will continue to rescue us. * Nobody is perfect!! ……or ….Only ONE MAN was perfect! Satan distorts “Perfect” from God centered to self centered. Greek Perfect = Complete……… Hebrew = Lacking nothing. Matthew 5:48 (NLT) 48 But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect. Romans 12:1-2 (NLT) 12 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Hebrews 10:12-18 (NLT) 12 But our High Priest offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand. 13 There he waits until his enemies are humbled and made a footstool under his feet. 14 For by that one offering he forever made perfect those who are being made holy. 15 And the Holy Spirit also testifies that this is so. For he says, 16 “This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.” 17 Then he says,“I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds.” 18 And when sins have been forgiven, there is no need to offer any more sacrifices. PERFECT motorcycle ………..Different for each of us but for the same purpose! Complete(perfect) but not the same(sameness) * Well, EVERYONE is going to sin!! Hebrews 10:26-29 (NLT) 26 Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins. 27 There is only the terrible expectation of God’s judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies. 28 For anyone who refused to obey the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 Just think how much worse the punishment will be for those who have trampled on the Son of God,
