03-05-17 – “Return of the King of King’s – Part 2” (Revelation 20) Revelation 20 – Return of the KING of Kings! Revelation 20:1-3 NIV– And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. 2 He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.3 He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time. Satan and his influence over the earth, the people of the earth will be non-existent on for 1000 years! Jesus will rule, reign and be the only Authority on earth! * Satan and everything associated with Babylon – The Mother of all Evil will be removed, gone, non-existent! * Real Peace, no more fighting and war. * Moral purity, Social justice, Racial unity and harmony. * Long life will be a normal thing. * Satan won’t be able to use disease, deformities, disabilities and division! * The earth, which was subject to sin’s curse will even be a better environment now that Satan is bound up. * The relationship with Christ will be one like we’ve never known and extended to everyone on earth without any barriers! There’s a lot of controversy in the Church over the 1000 year period or “Millennium.” * Pre-Millennium View – (Before the Millennium) * A literal 1000 years after the 2nd coming of Christ. * Satan is locked away for 1000 years and released to deceive the Nations again for a short time. * Satan finally judged and destroyed after the Millennium. 2. Post-Millennium View – (After the Millennium) * A literal 1000 years, but Christ comes AFTER the 1000 years. * Believes the gospel will be spread and the world “Christianized” for 1000 years (The world will get better and better) and at the end of that age, Jesus will come. * A-Millennium – (Doesn’t exist, or is it’s now.) * The 1000 year period is “symbolic” of the time between Christ’s ascension (after he was raised from the dead) and His 2nd * The 1000 year period is the “reign” of Christ in the hearts of believers and His Church. The Pre-Millennium view is the most literal, makes the most sense, and allows for all of God’s prophecies to be fulfilled. * 6 times the Bible states that Jesus will rule over a kingdom for 1000 years. * The Bible says that Jesus comes “before” the Kingdom and THEN establishes a 1000 year reign. * If you accept and take the Bible for face value the “Pre-Millennium view” is the most accurate. * The fulfilment of God’s promises depends on a literal, physical, future kingdom being established. God said ALL His promises would come true! Revelation 20:4-6 NIV – 4 I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years. John sees thrones and on them those who had been given authority by Jesus to judge. Matthew 19:28 NLT – Truly I say to you, that you who have followed Me, in the regeneration (re-birth) when the Son of Man will sit on His glorious throne,
